Released in 2007 "Lost Near Mayberry" is the first album of my original tunes . The road to completion was strewn with many obstacles including injuries so the project actually spanned 13 years. It all came about because in the mid to late 90s I was writing a lot of finger style tunes. After compiling a couple dozen tunes I decided to record them. Being on a creative roll I also completed some tunes I had started many years before and wrote several more. Since the theme was to be a bit rural a couple of the older compositions were rearranged to fit as well. Over the years the album became representative of several different composition styles and eras. Toys in the attic?
Electric Possum Land Recording Studios
Around 1978 I decided to add a recording studio business to our music store location in Milford. I retained the front third of the building for a music store counter and office and the rest of it became studio rooms. Over the next 9 years our customers recorded quite a few records, demos. The studio also produced original sound tracks for industrial film presentations. Eventually our studio band "The Movies" did a 45 "Photograph" which was released and even promoted nationally. It sold well in this area and also some in the mid west.
160 Radio Jingles Later
To keep the studio business running more smoothly I got into the jingle business. It turned out to be very good practice in writing, creating parts and arranging music daily. It could also be very frustrating sometimes in trying to ascertain what a customer felt they wanted musically to represent their business. It was sometimes rewarding to be in your vehicle and hear several of your compositions being played on radio ads in a short time, even if no one else but your friends realized it was your business doing them.
